PROPHECY
"For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit." (2 Peter 1:21)
"...the one who prophesies speaks to people for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation." (1 Corinthians 14:3)
Prophecy Vs. Prophesy
"Prophecy" is the noun, and "to prophesy" is the verb. To prophesy is simply to pronounce prophecy. Prophecy, at its most fundamental meaning, is “a message from God.” Hence, to prophesy is to declare a message from God.
Let's look at the definition for each for more clarification:
Prophecy: Noun
"a prediction; the faculty, function, or practice of prophesying."
Prophesy: Verb
"to utter by or as if by divine inspiration; to predict with assurance or on the basis of mystic knowledge."
In short, we can describe prophecy as the message and prophesy as delivering that message.
Prophesy Bible Meaning
Prophecy or prediction was one of the functions of the prophet. It has been defined as a "miracle of knowledge, a declaration or description or representation of something future, beyond the power of human sagacity to foresee, discern, or conjecture."
The great prediction, which runs like a golden thread through the whole contents of the Old Testament, is that regarding the coming and work of the Messiah, the great use of prophecy was to perpetuate faith in His coming and to prepare the world for that event. But there are many subordinate and intermediate prophecy also which hold an essential place in the great chain of events that illustrate God's sovereignty and all-wise.
If you take your time to study the Bible you'll see prophecies that was made and fulfill.
In contrast a prophecy take a longer period to be fulfilled
DECREE
Decree?
A decree is an official order issued by a legal authority.
A decree is taking God’s words and speaking them out. We have been given the authority from Jesus to make these decrees into our realms of influence and as we do it we begin to create the will of God in our life in the spiritual realm.
What the Word says about speaking scriptures out loud:Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established onto thee and the light shall shine upon thy ways. – Job 22:28
- “God confirms the word of His servant …” Isaiah 44:26
- Isaiah 55:11 God said, “My word shall not return void but accomplish all it is sent forth to do.”
- “Bless the Lord, you His angels, Who excel in strength, who do His word, Heeding the voice of His word” (Psalm 103:20).
What do Decrees Do?
1 . Decrees create and make changes in the Spiritual and Physical Realm
Scripture is a powerful force that creates change in both the physical and spiritual world when spoken.
As you decree God’s word and will, the awesome power of the Holy Spirit is released to bring it to pass.
Jesus said the words that we speak are spirit and they are life. The substance of our words goes out into the spiritual realm and starts to creates life.
Remember: “My word shall not return void but accomplish all it is sent forth to do.” In order to have what the Bible says, we need to speak it out.
“Bless the Lord, you His angels, Who excel in strength, who do His word, Heeding the voice of His word” (Psalm 103:20).
Angels respond to the words of life spoken by us. When we speak God’s promises and hope into situations, we give these angelic beings something to work with to accomplish God’s will and promises in our life.
The moment you decree a thing, it will dispatch angels to go and bring fulfillment to that word of God because they obey the voice of HIS word, not your thoughts.
When you speak His word, Angels are being sent out on your behalf to carry it out. Whether you see a change or not, speaking the Word will ALWAYS do something.
One of the most powerful things you can do to transform your life is to speak and decree certain scriptures into whatever area of life you are struggling with most. Yeah, yeah, yeah….. I know you have heard that a million times but if you knew that it was actually releasing angels and creating changes in the spiritual and physical realm to change your life why WOULDN’T you do it?!
Note: Decree comes immediately.
Footnote: A prophecy takes a longer time to be fulfilled, but the butomline is that as long as you have faith it will be fulfilled. On the other hand a decree come immediately as the word of God it's spoken, the Angel will make sure it's fulfilled and doesn't really need your Faith.
